This workshop will
focus on childhood white matter disorders. These constitute a vast group of diseases
that pose challenges in terms of interpretation and diagnosis, while offering a unique
model to improve our understanding of how histopathological alterations determine physical
MR properties. The aim of this workshop is to bring together MR researchers, physicists, radiologists, and pediatric neurologists to discuss findings in normal development and a variety of white matter disorders, including metabolic and acquired disorders, and the relevance of both conventional MR techniques, as well as advanced MR techniques, including MR spectroscopy, diffusion-weighted imaging, and magnetization transfer. The topics to be covered are normal white matter in neonates, infants, and children; inflammatory white matter disorders in children; hypoxic-ischemic white matter damage; and hereditary childhood leukoencephalopathies. The workshop includes six sessions, three with plenary lectures, two with parallel workshops, and one with proffered paper presentations. The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical
education for physicians. |
