Overview & Program
Workshop Overview
The focus of this workshop will be on improving MR safety by examining the current state of the art and by improving communication between all stakeholders – from system and medical device manufacturers through academic researchers, regulators, clinical technologists, medical physicists, and radiologists. This will include education on topics from the fundamental physics and physiology of discomforts and hazards in MRI, to the current best practices in MR safety assurance from patient screening and handling through infrastructure and management. Special attention will be given to considerations and challenges in ensuring safe conditions for imaging patients with medical implants, as well as ongoing advances in techniques and technology for improving safety assurance into the future.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Target Audience:
Scientists, engineers, technologists/radiographers, medical physicists, radiologists, and administrators interested in MR safety.

Faculty Declarations of Financial Interests
×
The ISMRM is committed to:
Therefore, it is the policy of the Society that any person who has influence over the content of an educational activity must disclose any real or apparent financial interest or other relationship (i.e., grant, research support, consulting fee, royalty, honorarium for promotional speakers’ bureau, ownership interest) that the individual may have with the manufacturers, distributors or providers of any commercial products or services that may be discussed in the presentation.
The ISMRM does not imply that such financial interests or relationships are inherently improper or that such interests or relationships would prevent the speaker or organizer from making an objective contribution. However, it is imperative that such financial interests or relationships be identified so that potential conflicts can be resolved before the program, and participants at the activity may have these facts fully disclosed in advance. It then remains for the audience to determine whether an individual’s outside interests may reflect a possible bias in either the exposition or the conclusions presented.
Following are the names of all speakers, committee members and other organizers who had influence over the program content. If individuals have disclosed real or apparent financial interests or relationships with regard to the subject matter of this meeting, the interests or relationships are described. All potentially relevant relationships have been mitigated appropriately.

Screening and Masking Policies for MR Safety Workshop at NYU Langone Health
I’m sincerely looking forward to having you at our MR Safety Workshop Oct 21-23. The workshop is taking place on the campus of the New York University’s Langone Medical Center, including some areas with patient access. As of now, entering the area includes some light screening and there are expectations for wearing masks consistent with other medical centers in New York City at this time.
For guests joining us from within the US: Please bring either proof of COVID vaccination or a negative COVID test result (test taken within 48 hours before start of the meeting) when entering the building.
For guests joining us from outside the US: Please bring both proof of COVID vaccination and a negative COVID test result (test taken after arriving in the US and within 48 hours before start of the meeting) when entering the building.
A photograph of a COVID vaccination card with your name visible is acceptable as proof of vaccination, and for our workshop we have received permission for use of either Antigen or PCR tests for our attendees. Antigen tests are available for free at many New York City Libraries and Recreation Facilities and are available for purchase at pharmacies throughout the city. You can also bring one with you during your travel to take after your arrival.
Please also consider arriving early enough at the venue (550 First Ave) before the start of the meeting each day to allow time for the screening process. While it should not take much time for any one person, there are a lot of us and a limited number of staff performing the screening.
A mask covering the nose and mouth is expected to be worn whenever you are not eating or drinking and whenever social distancing is not possible. While food and drink is not allowed in the auditorium, there will be food and drink available before the first session each morning and at all breaks, lunches, and poster sessions. There are also two outdoor courtyards adjacent the meeting space.
Aside from these policies, please also plan to join the dinner cruise on the evening of Saturday, October 22. It should feature impressive views of both New York City and the Statue of Liberty.
Many thanks for your consideration and helping to make this all go as smoothly as possible so we can have a great meeting.
Sincerely,
Christopher M. Collins
